An organization has been formed, COALITION for LANL EXCELLENCE
(CLE), to study, comment and report to the public on the RFP. There is a page on the organization: Description of the CLE.
A Coalition:
GENERAL NOTICE OF COALITION FOR LANL
EXCELLENCE WEB SITE
The Coalition for LANL Excellence (CLE) that has been formed includes
representatives of the Laboratory Retiree Group (LRG), the Retired Public
Employee Association (RPEA), the Democratic and Republican parties of Los
Alamos County, the University Professional & Technical Employees Union (UPTE),
as well as individuals who are retired or active Los Alamos National
Laboratory employees. The Coalition for LANL Excellence organized the
Przybylek (pronounced She bal ik) and Udall visits has continued to stay
active. The intent is to pressure for maintenance of LANL as a National Icon
and to support the needs of both Employees and Retirees especially in the area
of Benefit packages. The CLE (as an organization) is not supporting any
entities in the contract although most of the members have strong opinions in
this matter. The CLE is attempting to maintain the communication channels that
it has opened with the Congressional Delegation and the DOE as well as opening
channels of communication with LANL. We hope also to soon involve members of
the local business communities and the public, both on and off 'the hill', not
only to help ensure that this process results in a continuation of the
excellent science that has characterized Los Alamos in the past, but to see to
it that the Laboratory continues to have a positive impact on the economy and
quality of life of Northern New Mexico.
The CLE now has a "web" site on Yahoo. This site will post some of the
communications and will include a FAQ section. The intent of the CLE is to
